| What is Itasha? |
"Itasha" is the decorations car that applied a sticker of anime
(Japanese cartoon), manga (Japanese comics) or video game character. It
is also called "otaku car" and is the Japanese new subculture.
"Itasha" originally means "Italian car" in Japanese.
"Ita" means "Italy", and "sha" means "car".
But the other side, "Ita" also means "painful (or shameful)".
This "Itasha" means "painful (shameful) car". In short,
it is a poor joke. The adults liking the subcultures as an anime, comics
and video game etc are called "Otaku" in Japan, and they are
looked at the public with curiosity as "shameful fellows that should
know better at their age". They masochistically call their decorations
car "Itasha".
This Japanese comical subculture is not limited to the world of real car,
it spread to the world of magazine, video game and miniature model now.

 Aoshima released 1/24 plastic model kit of Itasha in February, 2008. The
model car is Mazda RX-7 (FD Late version) and the character of the sticker
is "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya". It is most popular anime
film in Japan now. This kit is sold out for extreme popularity in only
few days and is in short supply now.

Wheels" and "Haruhi Suzumiya decal sheet" together.
The new hobby that enjoyed Itasha by model car appeared by Aoshima. This
is one of the boom on Japanese hobby seen now.

| Step by Step Report Mazda RX-7(FD) "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" |
This kit is modeled on Mazda RX-7 (FD) series 8 (final series), but the
interior is the series 6. I remodeled interior in the series 8, and added
more details. As for the transparent of the anime decal, I made the white
foundation decal with the Alps MD printer, and lay it and the anime decal.
All the Haruhi Suzumiya goods decorated in the interior are existing products.
I scratched build them by 1/24 scales. |
